Visualizing the Halo Universe
Round 15: Free Round

Remember, feedback on artwork is appreciated and encouraged.

Apologies for the week away. Things got busy in my personal life. But this next round should be a fun one to return with, as it involves envisioning a theoretical new type of enemy that you would enjoy fighting in Halo.

Subject:

New Hunter Form

Specifications:

- Keep in mind the relative mass of a single Mgalekgolo colony
- Avoid vehicles or super units (scarabs)
- Illustrate something that you could picture fighting in a Halo game

Details:

In Halo, the terrifying enemies commonly referred to as Hunters are actually a colony of worms, known individually as Lekgolo. When a large group of Lekgolo forms around a combat frame (supplied by the Covenant), the larger organism this colony creates is known as a Mgalekgolo. Theoretically, due to the colony nature of the Lekgolo, these larger creatures could take any shape or function, so long as they had an adequate framework to form around. Why other Hunter combat forms have not been seen is still unknown, although it may be that the Hunters naturally form in the same configuration that the Covenant deploys them in. Regardless, this round aims to let you get creative and create an entirely new Hunter form, one that you might enjoy fighting in future Halo games.

Extra Credit:

If you're feeling extra creative, depict a Mgalekgolo that may have formed before the Hunters became part of the Covenant. Keep in mind what they naturally would have been restricted to if limited to their home planet of Te.
