It's actually more like the like money TOO much

Microsoft's demands for the movie were too big. Otherwise it probably would've happened. Basically Microsoft wanted Sony to front all the money and then still take a (relatively) large percentage of the profits. And it wouldn't surprise me if they still feel the same way. To them, they just think "We're the ones that own the IP, why shouldn't we make a large percentage of the money?" when in reality the movie business just doesn't work that way.
