: Given the predatory nature of the Elite's evolution, it seems strange that
: they'd have room for so much tissue between their skin and their bone.
: Also, something about this, probably the lack of a hinge for the lower jaws
: and the distance from the skull to the bottom of the mouth, makes me
: picture some Elites eating like snakes; their mouths expanding to the size
: of their meal. Thinking about it realistically, their jaw isn't really
: laid out well for chewing. Maybe it's possible?
You can also see that the eye sockets don't line up the best either :)
I needed a size check for a project I'm working on, and Loftus saved my bacon.
He also pointed out to me that, perhaps, Bungie had not planned out the Elite's physiology for the long term.
If you take a look at the legendary emblem's skull, it's much longer than the Elite's actual head, which skews my math a bit for what I'm working on.
As Loftus pointed out in his image, it should not be interpreted as canon- that extra space you see in the top of the head? A result of the Halo 2 asset on the Halo Reach asset.
The Elite has undergone some big changes over the series but the legendary never changed with them, soooooo yeah.
