That's what's bugged me about game review scores lately. Everybody treats numerical scores like they would scores for school assignments. 10, 9, 8, & 7 are often treated like an A, B, C, & D, respectively, and anything less is an F. Typically, review scores are at least nominally supposed to be more spread out, with a 5 or 6 being "average" (Ebert gave scores of 1 to 4 stars for movies; 3 stars, an equivalent of a 7.5, was considered good) but that seems to no longer be the case with games as to be considered "good" a title has be at least a 9 out of 10.
