: Interesting read! As one who has not found myself heavily invested in the
: fiction (but that's changing - Cryptum actually arrived on my doorstep
: this morning!), I agree with you on how some parts of the story were quite
: confusing. I found myself frequently saying, "Wait wait wait, hold
: on. Go back to the part about the thing that does... something" and
: having to rewatch cutscenes in order to comprehend even the basics about
: what was occurring.

: I'm not sure how to feel about the choice to delve into Chief's humanity,
: though. On the one hand, I completely agree that his character was left
: void for a reason - for us to see ourselves in his place. But on the
: other, I've always found him quite fascinating and have wanted to see more
: of a "human" character with feeling and emotion.

: Can't wait to read more from you. :)

I'm not conceptually opposed to fleshing out Chief's character, I just feel that there isn't enough potential there to make it the central theme of the narrative. Or, perhaps there is, but 343 just missed the mark so widely that it feels hopeless.
