For the trailer itself, I'm agreeing with the current consensus. The Master Chief has probably turned rogue, hinted by his heavily damaged armor and the cloak probably to protect it from the dust (hinting at a long time of disrepair), and could be looking for a way to revive Cortana. As for where does it take place, it's where I have a few hypotheses. If it is the Ark, it will be an interesting development.

It may be too early to call, and a lot of it was decanonized as a way to show Cortana's rampancy and it was noted to be symbolism for the most part, but I wonder if the later part of Halo Legends: Origins II may have been dropping hints into what may happen:

- An abandoned Forerunner helmet, along with a Flood infection form. A small number of Forerunner seemingly managed to survive the firing of the array as shown in Halo: Silentium, and while I'm not sure if 343i will ever put the Flood into the games again, from a lore standpoint there are still some supercell samples laying around in the galaxy.

- Master Chief stands in front of a Gravemind... and it gives a crystal chip to him, before apparently teleporting him.

- 343 Guilty Spark being resurrected. Halo: Primordium confirmed that he was alive.

- Similarly, he is teleported to Installation 04 (II) above the Ark, both of which had been left charred after the premature firing. The fact it fires may be more symbolic, again, but who knows.
