Of course, 343i should be making new stuff, but is it a foolish wish to want the caretakers of Halo to allocate a tiny effort into keeping the older titles alive by condensing playlists and holding simple tournaments or meet-up nights on Halo 3 and Reach (and Halo 2 PC if it were to somehow stay alive)? When Halo 5 comes out, wouldn't it be good to keep Halo 4 kicking with some minor attention?

How much more vibrant would Halo 3 feel if the News section and Highlights actually updated every few months? They may seem dead at the moment, but you could kick-start creative projects and rekindle traditions for the older titles with a bit of effort, methinks. These efforts aren't going to bring huge numbers back - it's just to keep it persistent in our culture.

Wouldn't that actually foster more cross-title community health and reduce the division between the 'classics' and 343i's Halo? Wouldn't keeping beacons lit of our old days of fun satisfy huge swaths of the community and push them to be more open to new titles? Instead of 'redesign and replace', why not 'build forward and remember'? It just seems like it would be great PR and keep a lot of the minority sub-communities happy. Because those smaller groups are important; they're passionate, loud, and add up in the long run of the franchise.
