Don't get me wrong, I like that too. It's also a fact that a PC will probably need to be upgraded multiple times during a consoles lifespan in order to maintain what feels like a quality standard.
Being able to run Oblivion well at max settings back in 2006 does not, in any way, mean the same PC will be able to run Skyrim well at even medium settings.
The PC solution is always brute force as opposed to efficiency.
Though I've grown to find Steam in its current form way better and easier to navigate than either the Playstation Store or Xbox Live Marketplace.
I hadn't used it since June 2006 when Half-Life 2 Episode 1 came out and it's a totally different beast now with its very easy to browse store and built in community options.
After using just Xbox Live since late 2006 in all its various forms, it's been a very nice change.
