On the human world of Harvest, agriculture is the primary source of income. Before these crops are exported to the various colony worlds throughout human space, they must first be reaped by giant machines, the most prominent of which is manufactured by JOTUN Heavy Industries. These massive machines are built to complete many different functions, ranging from crop-dusting to gathering each harvest. The most notable JOTUN was a prototype vehicle designed to be capable of tilling large areas of soil. During the early years of the Human-Covenant War, it was reconstructed by a well-intentioned Huragok Engineer as a peace offering. Seeing the destructive potential of this machine, the Brutes then repurposed the Engineer's design into the deadly Brute Chopper.
