Huh. Silverlight worked fine for me on my 10.6.8 2008 MBP; now I've bit the bullet and upgraded to Mountain Lion. I assume you've tried all the usual tricks (permissions, PRAM, uninstall, trashed prefs). Maybe it's 343's way of saying you need to let Eudora go... plenty of email clients in the sea :)
