Said negative rumor* is (IMHO) much more believable than this "neutral counter-rumour." I believe that Microsoft is a stupid company that makes increasingly stupid decisions. To say that I wouldn't put this past them is a massive understatement. In all honestly, I'm surprised they haven't tried something stupid like this before! It's a matter of when, not if, as far as I'm concerned.

Perhaps we're cynical... but this is Microsoft we're talking about.
