It tried to be Halo.

It wasn't anime dressed up as a Halo story. It didn't try to shoehorn Bushido onto the Elites, it wasn't built around a lame "Samus is a girl!" reveal, it wasn't a fifteen minute long explosion fest centered around the UNSC's PWNZER mechs, it wasn't fanservice for the people who grew up watching Dragon Ball, it wasn't a thirty minute long plot summary for the Japanese, and it wasn't a fifteen minute long explosion fest centered around the UNSC's Super Duper Starfighters.

It was what Halo: Legends should have been. An attempt to tell stories in the Halo universe that happened to be animated by a couple of Japanese studios. If Japanese cultural influence was present, it was subtle enough that I didn't pick up on it. Or maybe I was just too drunk to notice when I watched.

It is my least favorite, because they seemed to be going in the right direction, but I was really disappointed with the Spartans. Catherine Halsey had eight years and some of the UNSC's best resources with which to indoctrinate the Spartans. And they desert after their augmentation because... um... because?

It's almost as bad as killing off a Spartan because you can't think of any other way to up the tension.

Also, it probably looks like I don't have a sense of humor at this point. Nothing could be further from the truth.
