: The lesson of the day: If your job depends on it, don't say stupid shit in a
: public forum.
I don't feel sorry for him. He deliberately insulted his company's customers on a public forum. I imagine a fair number of people swore off ever getting the next-gen Xbox because of this PR disaster. Let's say they lost 2000 customers and the next Xbox retails for $500; that's a million dollars in revenue lost right there, and that's not counting lost software sales and possible XBL subs. If one of my employees was causing my company to lose hundreds of thousands if not millions of dollars just because he couldn't keep his big mouth shut, then damn right I'd demand a resignation if not outright fire his sorry ass. Personal responsibility is a bitch, ain't it? Your company loses money because of you, then you lose your job. People have been fired for less. I'd tell Mr. Orth what he told us: "Deal with it." I have a feeling he won't be finding a job in the games industry anytime soon.
