lol - it was. Originally.

A long, long time ago, HBO was run off a mac, and that mac would choke when traffic got too heavy. But we couldn't move to a unix box at the time, because I didn't have any programming skills on, say, php, and a lot of the content here was dynamic, served from databases.

So the short-term solution was to set up a unix box that could handle all the static content -mostly images - leaving just the dynamic stuff for the mac. Since the content was mostly images, I named it nikon.

Over time, I learned php, and moved more and more of the content off the mac and onto the unix box. Eventually, I retired the mac. The nikon name never went away, because of cached/archived links on other sites.

And now you know the REST of the story. :)
