Halo destroys Precursor architecture because Precursor tech is biological in nature, enough so that Halo's anti-biological (I think it contains Nervous systems, which is specifically what Halo targets) weapon "kills" it. Forerunner tech was unaffected by Halo. The Ring firing would have killed any life forms on the Ark, but the Ark itself and all of it's component structures would be left intact. (minus whatever chunks of Halo crashed into it).
