I have really been into defending 343's actions so far.

But I mean, honestly. If they had just asked anyone who has played Halo if they should have the x be 1) hard to see 2) disappear very rapidly and 3) follow the dead body, there is no way they would have said yes.

Most everything so far has been just "design decisions" in my opinion. But this just doesn't provide anything good at all.
