Why does the configuration hate me soo?! *OT*

I don't know if some update was implemented on the boards recently, but for the last week and a half now whenever i try logging in and setting my preferences to "flat UBB-style forums" style (Compressed List, Guestbook and UBB Order) it just loads somewhat then crashes. any other style I can load but this style apparently my browser doesn't like. then crashes the back pages too so I can to go through HBO's home page to get back to the forums.

So can you guys tell me whats going on and how can I fix it? Thanks.
Browser: Avant Browser 11.7 build 53 (IE Based)
OS: Windows XP SP3

(Yeah yeah I know I'm an outdated dinosaur who isn't apart of the Firefox or Crome master race. I'm workin on it as soon as I get my tax rebate.)
