So, ODST is a pretty cool game. *IMG* *VID* | |

I played some ODST on normal. I capped some stuff. This is a totally random gush post. You don't like it, jump your butts back into orbit! Images link to bigger images. //============================ The whether change to "more dusty" on Uplift after the Tether falls is pretty neat. Really makes this grove look interesting. I appreciated a marine mocking my driving.
//============================ Cup anemometer and windsock, both of which actually adjust behaviour over time. Pretty cool. The NMPD has your weather information needs covered,
I like how NMPD HQ and Kikowani give you new views of the cluster of large buildings. I also like how NMPD transitions to the other side of the main building (what company has the red triangle, anyway?) When I was almost to the crane bridge, I spent too long staring at the skylight view in the building. Buck made it outside well before I did, and when I came out I saw him sneaking up on the last jackal. Clearly, Buck is some sort of amazing stealth ninja. However, analyzing the replay showed that Buck is in fact an amazing stealth wizard.
//============================ Contunuing on with fresh angles on the skyscrapers, Kikowani is pretty cool. Halo 3 lighting model is best lighting model. I always loved how this chamber looks in ODST. Halo 3 also, but moreso with Kikowani darkness around it. Destroying a scarab... from the point of view of the scarab. //============================ ODST isn't really known for its snow and ice environments. But it's not bad in this department. It's awesome how far-reaching the pulsating glow of the ONI building is. Data Hive's shaft is shown here, and it's pretty amazing how the glow bounces off the walls and windows of the structures around the lake as seen from the nighttime streets as well.
//============================ I love how powerful the sense of morning is on Mombasa Streets. Bungie tried to pull off The Maw beyond just the fact that there's a warthog section. The sound design as you step back outside nails it, as does the fact that light is coming from pretty much the opposite direction than what you've seen the whole game. It's wonderful how you travel through one last thorough look at what you had done the day and night before as you drive around the rim of the city center. Tank... beats assault carrier? Hopefully? I'm sure I'm not the only person who takes shots at that thing. I'm also sure I'm not the only person who considers this a terrific[ly stylish] defensive location. It works, so it's not weird. Strange hunter is strange.
//============================ Bonus Lost Platoon section! Gotta absorb that ambience.
Grunt has a bad day.
Drones can be kind of dumb sometimes.
//============================ I have to say, saving screenshots makes me a little sad.
HYPE. //============================ And, as Lionheart noted in the thread beneath this post, thanks to HaLo2FrEeEk for the method for getting the stuff from the thing. Otherwise I wouldn't have been able to grab even remotely visually acceptable screenshots.
