Wake Up, Reclaimers! (Extra Life 2012!)

Good morning! I’m MoltenSlowa, lover of Halo, community, and things that can help other people. But this isn’t about me, this is an invitation to you to join with me in playing Halo for 24 hours to play games, have fun, and heal others. The quick and dirty: Where: Where ever you love to game! Home, work, with friends, your choice! Starts: October 20, 2012, @ 8am EST. Ends: October 21, 2012, @ When we finish, EST. Games: Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST, and Halo: Reach! How this works: First, register here: http://www.extra-life.org/index.cfm?fuseaction=donorDrive.team&teamID=9470 Then, ask your friends and family to sponsor you at least $1 per hour, for a total of at least $24 for Extra Life 2012! Finally: Sit down, play games, and have a good time! Why am I doing this? Ever since Extra Life was announced, I’ve always wanted to do it but never had a weekend free to do it...until now. I owe the Halo community a ton for the ways that they’ve shaped my life, and this is one of my ways I’m giving back! At PAX Prime 2012, I really felt the sense of family that we have. It didn’t matter who I was or where I was from, everyone in our community treated me like I belonged. I was fortunate enough to spend some time with 343 Industries, Bungie, Halo.Bungie.Org, Grifball, ReadyUpLive, Waypoint moderators, HaloGAFers, and loads more people and communities. I can say that without a doubt, I have truly felt just how amazing the Halo community as a whole is, and I’m incredibly jealous (with love) of everyone who gets to work alongside them every day. Developers, moderators, community managers, coordinators, posters, lurkers, and the rest of the wonderful community I am proud to be part of: Thank you for making me who I am today. <3 So tell your friends, tell your family, and get as many people as you can to join us in playing Halo! Doesn’t matter if they’re HaloGAF, HBO, Grifball, Roosterteeth, Waypoint, HaloCouncil, or another community. Let’s all pull together with the Halo community spirit that we all know and love! Now let’s play some Halo! A few questions and answers: Before you ask questions, please read the Extra Life FAQ (http://www.extra-life.org/index.cfm?fuseaction=cms.page&id=1005&eventID=508) here! -But Slowa, who does it benefit? For our first annual event, our donations are going to the Seattle Chidren’s Hospital! -Slowa, I can’t participate in Extra Life this year on those days or for the full time, wat do?!?! From the Extra Life FAQ: “The idea and spirit of Extra Life is that everyone pulls together at the same time, but we know that’s not going to be possible for everyone. Don’t let a commitment on the 20th stop you from joining. Just do what you can and make up the game time later. What matters most is the time you put in BEFORE the event to raise money for these kids.” -Slowa, can I play something other then Halo? Of course! You don’t have to play Halo the entire time if you don’t want to, you’re free to play whatever you want. The important thing is that you play games, and enjoy yourself! -How do I know you're really going to be playing games for 24 hours? I'm going to do my best to have some form of livestream going on my end. However, due to my audio setup (headphones), I can't guarantee anything.
