This is exactly my line of thinking as well. If they really wanted to defend their stated reasons with a follow-through of design.
But, how about putting it there because people expect it to be there? Because it's comforting? Because that's the kind of thing a HUD probably would display anyway?
Also, saying that reducing screen clutter is good and then putting in a bunch of useless lines and fluff is just... madness.
Also, also, the silhouettes being useless is ENTIRELY THEIR OWN FAULT for thinking that having a bunch of equivalents across the three factions is a good idea.
