All's Well that Ends Well with a Dog Day in D.C.
Posted By: GreyThorDate: 8/26/12 10:08 p.m.

I figured I'd write a few things about the LAN at Mal's this past weekend. I may as well start it now while the weekend is still fresh in my head. I think I took a nap when I arrived home last year and subsequently put off the write up for the All's Well LAN at Wu's.

So ya. Malagate hosted HBO regulars in his D.C. pad for the weekend, where we jammed out to Custom Games and when all the Xboxes were talking well enough, we rocked against whoever we were up against in Xbox Live. I arrived in from good ol' Savannah GA at around ten in the evening to Malagate and Dizzy. Yall remember Dizzy right? Ya, that guy. Initially I thought "this can't be everyone who's here so far... I mean, I had a nine hour drive!" but soon enough Jynx and Kermit were over. And somehow, somewhere, blame it on the stop to get food by Miguel, nof, and Konrad showed up. So ya, we had a full crew by about 1 AM.

The next morning, the LAN proper day kicked off with breakfast, more people showing up, and starting to get the games rolling. I finally met Have Blue. That was cool. We gamed from about 9 AM (I woke up at 10 I think?) and went on until about 11 PM.. I think everyone was worn out from everything. Props to Miguel for cooking dinner, Kermit for driving out to the grocery store with me to get the ingredients for Miguel, and everyone who attended. By the time I woke up at noon everyone had left save Miguel, to which he was the last person to leave.

A few key things that I took home from the LAN:
- Dizzy is still a jerk in person, so if you had the pleasure of corresponding with him on the forums or in IRC it's who he is. But he's still a cool cat.
- The beverage of choice at the LAN was Jack Daniel's Tennessee Honey provided by Jynx. It was fun watching Malagate, Jynx, and Kermit game with a couple of glasses of the honey elixir. I however stuck to the refined vice of craft beers, to which I brought two growlers featuring a microcraft brew from Savannah's Moon River Brewery's Apparition Ale (Konrad thoroughly enjoyed this pale ale).
- Miguel had some jokes for Mr. Bayou Balls when we were matched against him in Xbox Live. They made it to the quotes board we had for the LAN.
- Jynx has some mad skills with Spanish. It was fun chatting en español con él.
- Dizzy was introduced to the Dark Side of hookahs, to which I took a nap with my hookah beside my feet and woke up to it relocated upstairs by his console station.
- I'm a CCP (EVE Online & Dust 514) fanboy.
- Kermit and Konrad were kept distracted with my laptop's desktop collection. They now have my library of 2200+ desktops.
- Last thing I want to share: Malagate had some wacky Custom gametypes. Rocket/Grav Hammer Oddball on a Halo CE remake map took the cake.

So ya, all in all, a great time. And one last note: no drive is too far for me. I may have missed out on the LAN in Indiana, but I would have been all over driving up there. So keep that in mind, HBO!
