http://www.examiner.com/article/halo-4-s-storm-covenant-faction-officially-revealed

Appologies if these two sets of info are old news, but at the least, the Covenant faction reveal definately seems to be new. Either way, it's not something I often do, but when you combine the need to vent your spleen and procrastinate...well, here's the result.

So...looking at the figurines for starters. Not much to say, as I've never been a collector of figurines of any series. But...ugh. You know, seeing the Jackal's in-game render was bad enough, but somehow its figurine has gone even further from the core aesthetic. You know, I could at least see the in-game image shown ages ago as being on the same evolutionary tree, but this thing? What, did kig-yar evolution go from bird to reptile? Also the sangheili seems a bit too reminiscent of the pfhor for my liking. I mean, I admittedly like the aesthetic itself, but there were enough similarities between 'Halo' and 'Marathon' before-I don't need 343 to hit me over the head with it.

Looking at the reveal article...so, the Covie faction is "the Storm." Not "Storm of Faith" or "Storm of the Prophets" or "Storm of (insert term here) but...the Storm. As in, the name of a 'Halo 3' level if I remember correctly. What, were the Servants of Abiding Truth too mouthy a faction for an in-game appearence?

And looking at the plot reveal...the Storm are on Requiem to find...a weapon. Yep, we're once again copying the plot of 'Combat Evolved', only with a weapon being on the Forerunner installation rather than the installation being one itself (or maybe it is...). Sigh...you know, I've said before how the 'Halo 4' plot seems to be a rehash of 'Combat Evolved,' but I was able to put my concerns aside when I saw the Prometheans, how at the very least, they had a different feel to them than the Flood. But no, it seems that 343 is content on altering Covenant physiology for no reason, while refusing to deviate from the plot of past games.

Believe it or not, I'm usually one who comments on other complaints/praise than starting it. I'm still willing to give 343 the benefit of the doubt but I'll admit my anticipation for the game did indeed go down a notch.
