I'm really looking forward to it, however...

In Response To: FuD Trailer from SDCC (GrimBrother One) ...at the same time, I feel a tremendous pressure not to say anything open and honest about criticisms that I have regarding visual things because I don't want to be a downer on anyone's high. That's so strange, but I really do get the sense that, even if everyone was all like "Oh, no, it's okay dude, speak your mind here!" that what criticisms I have would just be pinned as the words of a negative nancy, either on a minority bandwagon or adhering to impossibly high standards. But let me be very clear here: I love what they're doing and I'm loving a lot about what I'm seeing so far. And I'm loving several of the actors they've chosen, and many other things... However, simultaneous with that love, I have had, for over ten years now, this deep, deep hunger for my favorite fictional universe to be shown to me in a super expensive way that somehow combines something like Prometheus' visuals, AVATAR's visuals, LOSt's visuals, and District 9's visuals together in some strange, crazy cool way that is unique to the Halo universe, and this awesome live action series that they're doing is NOT that, and so some part of me is just always depressed by that fact whenever they come out with something awesome that's "not quite there yet.". Sad, but true, lol. The one aesthetic criticism that I have and that I am not afraid to just throw out there is the choice of armor design. I believe that the origin of that armor design was by Shinji Aramaki for The Package, for Halo Legends, and while a neat set of armor, it just isn't what I understand them to look like at any point in the "canon" visual universe. If this really is at the very start of the Human-Covenant War, then I understand that they should look like some kind of version of this: http://i.imgur.com/lTmtv.jpg (although maybe with better-looking versions of those helmets). Anywho. I know for a fact that I am going to enjoy the living tar out of this experience, and I am so very, very grateful to Kevin Grace, Jeremy Patenaude, and the others who helped make this go from mere idea into something else. Regardless of my jonesing for something I've never actually had before, you guys are doing a great job and I look forward to whatever else you've got up your sleeves!
