Covenant/Human Rivalry

This is how I see it. Both Humans and Covenant were once the semi-sentient slave-species of the Forerunners. Humans evolved sentience and rebelled (hence 343 GS's remarks like "Stop being so human!" when you shoot at him!), and were 'cast out' onto a lonely little blue planet called Earth, where they started to prosper. Later on, the Covenant showed signs of rebellion, and were dumped somewhere else, but they somehow gained access to a few forerunner technologies; hence their superiority over humans once they first arrived! Their religious quest to destroy mankind is based on what happened when the humans were 'cast out'- their 'gods' are forerunners, and they are at Halo to discover the truth about their origins! This also explains why all three species (Covenant, Humans, Forerunners) speak very similar languages!
343 Guilty Spark

I don't know if you'll think anything of this, but...
The name "Guilty SPARK"- doesn't that suggest anything to you? Another context for use of the word 'spark' is in the 'spark' of life. It's a thin connection, but it also reminds me of the demigod Prometheus in Greek mythology, who gave humankind a gift of fire from the sun (hence 'spark'). As Punishment, Prometheus was chained (chain=ring=halo) to a rock (in this case, around a gas giant (which is brown- but that's really thin))where an eagle would come and eat out his liver, which would regenerate, each day for etenity. The reference is obvious from the titles of some of Bungie's earlier games (Labrynth, Minotaur etc.). So here are my hypotheses:
Either 1. 343-GS CREATED the flood, and his punishment is to keep them locked up, and destroy them if they get out;
Or 2. 343-GS Accidentaly (or otherwise) gave the flood access to spaceflight (fusion drive=sun (nuclear fusion is what the sun does)) Human+Covenant ships use fusion drives), and so is 'chained' to Halo, around anchoring-point (comes from 'rock') Threshold.
