The issue you are having with dialog sounds like a settings issue. If you have a stereo TV and set your console to 5.1, this can happen, and vice versa. If you have a TV with pseudo5.1 surround, I would try switching from stereo to 5.1 on the console setting s and vice versa. If you are going through surround proper, try some adjustments.
