H:CE A makes me stare at the floor & twitch.*IMG*s | |

Hopefully this horse isn't already dead, and though I've mentioned before some of the important details I think the art direction of Anniversary has thus far ignored, I wanted to point out one more thing I noticed.... If you watch the pre-order reveal video...
You'll notice the Forerunner floors have been changed from a continuous (dare I say, Forerunner-esque? :P) pattern found throughout the Halo trilogy, to sectioned off pieces of hexagons. This...
...now with Halo Anniversary's art direction, incorrectly uses styles that have been attributed to the Covenant since the original Combat Evolved and beyond:
Now you may "Seriously, you made a topic about the pattern on a floor?" and I will say, "Yes, dear sir, I did," and twirl my mustache. But this is just an example of the overall issue. I believe the Forerunner style is defined by a monolithic alien-ness beyond our comprehension, as opposed to something that could have been built by humans or the Covenant (like these Cartographer floors and walls -they just forgot the purple paint). The Forerunner didn't build by throwing slabs of metal up and bolting them down - they built their worlds with wonder. I'm not opposed to better graphics - I'm fine with everything looking prettier, even having more complicated shapes- it's what those graphics are depicting that should stay true to the styles established. The game is still a little ways off. And we've yet to see the final build. There's always hope. And there's always the 'switch to classic' button. :) Thank you for reading, I feel better now and the twitching has stopped.
