Riding a pelican like a cowboy

Has anyone (yes, including you, Frogblast) managed to leap upon the pelican at the first AotCR bridge? I've gotten so close from different spots, as the pelican lowers to the right, and I thought it would be a nice way to get to the bottom in Single Player... I've had no luck with the grenade/shade method. If anyone manages, well, I'm sure they'll let us know. Thanks.
