FLAG Write-Up a.k.a. My 5th Day With Bungie*IMG*
Posted By: Morpheus <SlimDKR@aol.com>Date: 10/29/10 1:41 a.m.

I know how long ago this was. But I'm not going to lie to you.

I love talking about fun events. They call me Mr. Write-Up in RCG. But in those days, those golden Halo 2 days, I only had the perspective of watching things from my point of view only. Which made writing about very easy, considering the gameplay I have. But with Theater mode, keeping track of all of the big battles of a game has become immensely difficult. A lot harder than I thought. Which is why it took me so long to get great pictures. But I digress--and continue on with the story.

This Sunday was an absolutely terrible day at work. I was furious and exhausted and I just wanted to just find some place to crash and rot. So I laid down face flat on the carpet and stared into some Grade F shag, too tired to even close my eyes.

"7:38, oh $#!@ the Bungie thing is tonight!"

So I got on, called my team partner, AlmostMilk, and we played some co-op MilkFight while we waited.(Crazy bonus round, too.)

Eventually, I got an invite from none other than XO Sancho, who looked somewhat familiar.

This time, he brought with him hdubya(Nice.), a Reach server technician. Milk, of course wanted to go eat, so I left him in the dust, and recruited my cousin, CyborgT1000. (He's in the real UNSC, the USMC!)

But enough braggin'. Let's get to the games!

Be warned:Massive pictures approaching!

Game 1:Elite Slayer
Sword Base, Covenant weapons
Game Duration:9:28
General Tone of Game:Explosive

The four of us started in the Security office, helmets aflame.

We split up into different directions--Bungie camped the yellow lift room while I, the Concussion Rifle. The others continued the fight upstairs, while I had a quarrel with the sword carrier.

Eventually, my double reload got the best of me and I got killed. Seeking to recover the Rifle afterward, I managed to stick an opponent on the way there.

Which motivated me to do this:

And we all know how that goes.

"You betrayed XO Sancho". Whoops.

Soon after, I was killed, and spawned in the Damaged Hall. I immediately rolled forward and stuck whoever was camping in the yellow room.

Lucky me, he had a sword, too.

Which dubya picked up and decided to charge a group of Blues with. Bad idea.

The fight still continued on upstairs, but I picked off any of the stragglers that were unlucky enough to hit the first floor.

After that, and much Armor Locking, sticking, and Evading, we finally pulled ahead and locked in our last kill--at the same place we started--the Security office.

50-48. Bungie wins.

Game 2:Invasion
Spire, default weapons
Game Duration:19:20
General Tone of Game:Tense

This is a great example of how Bungie cares for their fans and what makes them such an awesome developer(even though their spawns still suck. lmao.) We were promised 20 minutes of gameplay with the Bungie crew. 20 minutes, and we're out. But as you can see, this game lasted a lot longer. But instead of just backing out and leaving us in the dust, they stayed with us the whole time. Kudos, Bungie and a high five for you guys! Anyway, moving on.

We started out as Spartans cresting the hill. We tried to decide on the best way to tackle this situation, which gave our opponents more of a chance to get themselves situated as well.

Most of the team took Alpha, while I went for Bravo.

After we took down the wall, we headed for the Spire itself. I grabbed the Warthog...

...and Sancho hit the gunner as we became Brothers of The Flame.

We used that to get to the top of the Spire and try to take the core there. I lifted up with Sniper in tow, somehow forgetting that we weren't fighting Covenant AI. So when I shot at one of the Sword Elites, and he just kept coming at me, I used the only Noble solution available:

I jumped the f!$k off and died. At this point, Sancho got the core and threw it off. I chose the outside River spawn to get to the Falcon, hoping someone would spawn on me co-op style. No one did for a while, so I tried helplessly to splatter those down below. Eventually, Cyborg spawned on my left, so I kept that field open for him.

Unfortunately, it was too late, and the time ran out.

The Elite side was not much better. I hid in between the generators.

(Can you see me?)

But our problem was team placement. Most of our teammates were where they needed to be, and while we held out for the longest, they still unlocked the Spire with less than a minute to spare.

Sadly, the same deal went on with Round 2.

When Round 3 came along, I ran up to grab the Banshee that had freshly spawned near a Grav Lift.

No dice.

Which meant I had to stay on the bottom floor, and keep the core safe from there. Turns out, the Blues were just bringing out their brigade. So when they grabbed the core and neared the extraction point, Sancho tried to splatter the carrier.

No dice.

3 to 2. Bungie loses.

We ended up losing, but before the game even ended, I got an invite from a guy named JuniorFX. I was thinking about it, and I said, "They couldn't be inviting me for another 2v2 slot?

But as it turns out, I got invited to a special custom game session with Junior, Sancho, the head honchos of FLAG, and a couple of other close friends. Pretty exclusive, am I right?

Game 3:Headhunter
Boardwalk, default weapons
Game Duration:8:06
General Tone of Game:Frantic

Normally, I don't care for Headhunter. I just scoop up whatever kills I can. But since I was invited, I thought it would be more fun if I just played for real. And man, it was crazy.

I kept my Jetpack on high to scope out all of the high numbered numbskulls(get it?) and swoop in for the bounty. And boy, was there a bounty!

A little over halfway through the game, Junior hit a high 10, and was heading right for the goal marker.

At that point, Sancho scrambled to get in his way and kill him for the big reward. He then turned and ran for the marker himself.

Guess who was behind him?

After picking up most of the residue, I ended up in the lead, which was tossed back and forth for a while, until I hit the jackpot.

After two other players killed each other here...

...I ran up to collect the winnings.

Luckily, the drop point had just moved over me, so I ended it relatively quickly.

Morpheus414 wins with a score of 26 skulls collected.

God, I'm tired!!

Game 4:Infection
Sword Base, no weapons
Game Duration:17:08
General Tone of Game:Very Adult

Boy, did we really get to swearing here. I only took 4 pictures, so there's not much to describe.

(Yeah, like that works!)

But of course, that somehow became part of the conversation, and....

By the way, I snagged this during an Evade maneuver. Look familiar?

The game ended with a tie between AlmostMilk and XO Sancho at 23 points.

After that, I got real hungry, and most of the guys had to leave, but MAN it was fun playing. This makes my 10th Bugnie employee I've played over the past 3 years, and it's been fantastic. Questions have been answered, achievements have been unlocked, friendships have been made. And I hope to have many more fantastic experiences!

Well, that's my fantastic write-up. Sorry for f-ing up the page here. If you want videos of the action, come see me!

Until then, good night.
