In Response To: Re: "Lone Wolf." *HUGE SPOILERS!* (Urban Reflex) After researching a bit more, I put all this together: August 13, 2552 - The plan to jack the Sabre and destroy the Corvette is pitched to Colonel Holland. 60% of the fleet is on the way to Reach, with the first arrival in 48 hours. August 14, 2552 - The team lands outside the Sabre base. "The Long Night of Solace" August 23, 2552 - Noble Six arrives in New Alexandria, nine days after being pushed back to the surface by Jorge. Plenty of time for the UNSC fleet to arrive. August 30, 2552 - 0530 Hours. The Pillar of Autumn fights above the surface. August 30, 2552 - 0616 Hours, mission to destroy the NAV data on UNSC Circumference begins. The Master Chief is back on The Pillar of Autumn at 0647. August 30, 2552 - 1652 Hours. Noble arrives at the shipyard in Azod. The game rearranges some things. - Cortana was on the ship before the Master Chief was in the novel. - Master Chief was on Reach, testing the MJOLNIR uplink with Cortana on August 27, 2552. With no mention of Covenant yet. Surely ONI can't hide *THAT*. - The timeline above leaves the Pillar of Autumn in-system at Reach for twelve hours longer than stated in the novel. But the gap in the book between them leaving, and arriving at Halo, is not a chapter break, with a time/date. It is a simple line break. So we don't know when they actually left, only when they got there. It's possible Keyes came back to get Cortana at Halsey's request. While yeah, it changes some stuff, it doesn't ruin the entire book. And yes, I'm reading way too far into it, when Bungie's word is law. I'd really like to talk to someone at Bungie about the process for all this - if the times in the novel were even looked at, etc. I can take it at face value, of course. It's just too damn fun to read through it all and sort it out. [psst. hire me, frankie. my mind is as close to your bible as a civilian's can be.]
