| Forerunner & Saint John the Baptist | |

I'm new here, so I just wanted to post a little theory about the Forerunner/Human link (please bear with me if some one has posted this before, or my idea(s) are a litle basic). 1. Saint John the Baptist was know as a Forerunner. A Forerunner for our "lord", in the Bibles case, Jesus. "...John also prepared the way for Jesus...for he recognized his own limitations and that he was but a forerunner and a road-builder; and when the time came, he graciously made way for our Lord... "I am not the Christ" he said, I am but a voice. "He that comes after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear."
This is an interesting prospect. If the forerunner who created Halo where infact precursors to something/someone (or something) who where to come after them, they were infact laying a path or direction for them to follow. The forerunner knew that they were not Gods, they would wait for them to arrive. This could be seen, that either the covenant or Humans could be the desendants of the forerunner; They both find Halo. 2. The idea that the forerunner did infact seed the Human race bears more sense than seeding the Covenant. The covernant consists of at least four species, with different languages (Grunts speak English, Elites dont etc). So, as Humans are just one species, they could have had the genetic seed placed into their DNA 100 thousand years ago (the approx age of Halo). This would explain the fact that their is only one true sentient race on earth (and apes/primates lag behind). So in theory: The Flood may have been released from the halo (or a planet they are/were native to) and nearly defeated the Forerunner. The Forerunner then realising that there race was doomed they seeded Humans with their genetics. As human kind was not "sentient" at that time, Halos weapon did not harm them. The Forerunner as a separate species died off, at the hands of their own superweapon, leaving Humans to continue to evolve over the next 100 millennia, and then take their place as the desendants.
